Brambles Electrical
Essentials
Ian had already been let down by one developer. The previous site was full of basic mistakes, including American plug sockets in the photos of a UK electrician's work. This rebuild gave him a site that matches the standard of his work and gives local customers a clear route to contact him.
Hosted by me
I handle design, build and hosting. One invoice, one point of contact, and no chasing multiple providers when something needs changing.
Low Maintenance
Not every website needs constant updates. This one is kept simple and lightweight, which keeps costs down and gives Ian less admin week to week.
Fast & Visible
Fast, hand-coded pages mean a better first impression for visitors and stronger local search visibility over time.
Built around the brand
The branding was already strong. Ian had a logo and colour scheme from another designer that was genuinely good, so the visual work wasn't starting from scratch. The job was making sure the site was worthy of it.
Ian wanted a testimonial section, which made sense. Most people hiring a tradesman want to know he's reliable before they commit to anything, and real reviews do that better than anything else on the page.
The services section is plain and direct: what Ian does, where he works, nothing else. Visitors can see straight away whether he covers their job.
Phone, email and WhatsApp are all accessible from every page, because the whole point of the site is to make it easy for someone to get in touch.
SEO was built in from the start: proper metadata, structured markup, fast load times. The site ranks for his business name and shows up when people in Norfolk search for an electrician.
Mobile-first, inside and out
Most of Ian's customers will find him on their phone. Someone's had a fault, they search for an electrician nearby, and they need the site to load quickly and tell them what they need to know. That's the scenario the site is built around.
It also matters for Google. Mobile performance is one of the bigger factors in local search rankings, so getting this right isn't just about how it looks on a small screen.
A gallery system built for easy updates
Ian wanted to be able to add his own photos without coming back to me every time he finished a job. WordPress would have been the obvious answer but it was more than he needed: plugins to keep updated, a dashboard full of options he'd never use, and the kind of upkeep that adds up.
Instead, the gallery runs off a lightweight image service. Ian logs in, uploads a photo and adds a tag, something like "rewire" or "consumer unit", and it appears on the site automatically, sorted into the right place. He's been doing it himself since the site went live, nearly a year ago. I haven't had to touch it since.
"Robb took my very broad brief for a website and ran with it, the results were superb, clear concise and user friendly, even putting in things I didn't know I needed. He is friendly reliable and very knowledgable talking me through all aspects of the design at every stage, I would highly recommend his services to any business of any size."
